  Er sagte zu uns, es sei sein Wunsch, daß wir in ihm nicht einen Lehrer sähen, sondern einen Freund, und es scheine ihm weit weniger wichtig, daß wir dies und jenes uns einprägten, um gute Zeugnisse zu bekommen, als daß wir lernten, die Schönheitder Erde, die Gesänge der Dichter und die Stimmen der Freundschaft zu lieben und  zu begreifen.



  He said to us that If we had our hope, we would see not a teacher but a friend in it, and it might seem  more important to him that we could learn the beauty of the earth,  the singing of the poet, and the voices of  friendship to love and to understand, than we could memorize this and that to get good testimonies.
