Nr32

Wie ganz anders sieht meine Mutter auf dem Hochzeitsbild aus. Da ist sie noch ganz jung und schlank wie ein Mädchen, das erst vor kurzem seine Schulzeit beendet hat. Sie war auch kaum 20Jahre alt, als mein Vater sie hiratete. Und sie muß sehr glücklich gewesensein, sonst würden ihre Augen nicht so strahlen, kein so seliges Lächeln in ihren Zügen wohnen.

My mother on her wedding photo looks as if she were a quite other person. On this picture, she remains very young, and slender like a girl whose school days ended only a short while ago.
 She was scarcely twenty year old when my father got married to her. And she might to be very happy, otherwise her eyes would not so beam,nor blissful smile exist in her countenance.

Nr 31

Einmal lag Schulstube ein Stück Papier. Niemand hatte es hingeworfen. Aber es war doch da. Da sagte der Lehrer: " Kinder,seid doch einmal ganz still, wir wollen hören, was das Papier erzählt."
 Die Kinder saßen langage Zeit mäuschenstill und lauschten, ob denn das Papier nicht etwas sage. Aber es blieb ganz ruhig liegen.
Da stand ein kleines Mädchen auf und ging hin zu dem Papier. Das Mädchen hob es auf und warf es in den Papierkorb. Dann sagte das Mädchen: " Ich habe es gehört, was das Stuckchen Papier gesagt hat. Es hat mir ganz leise in das Ohr gesprochen: Warum hebt ihr mich denn nicht auf?"




Once a piece of paper lay in the classroom. Nobody had thrown it down. But it was still there. Then the teacher said."You boys, be silent, Let's hear what the paper tell." The children were sitting still for a long time, and listening to whether the paper tell something or not. But it remained silent.
Then a small girl stood up and went to the paper. The girl picked it up and tossed it into the trashcan. And then, the girl said."I heard what the paper said. It spoke silently to me: Why on earth didn't you pick me up?"

Nr 30

Du mußt schon längst gelernt haben, daß der größte Teil des menschichen Lebens aus Unglück und getäuschten Hoffnungen besteht. Der Gedanke daran muß uns die Kraft geben, gegen alles stark zu sein, was uns begegnen kann, besonders wenn es nicht durch unsere eignene Schuld geschiet.

 
 
 You must have already learned that most of the human life exist in an accident and a disillusion of hope. To think about this must give us the power, that make us strong against all I can meet, and the more, when such things happen without our faultines.

Nr29

Mann findet gar oft, wenn man ein wenig aufmerksam ist, daß Menschen im Alter von ihren Kindern wieder ebenso behandelt werden, wie sie einst ihre alten und kraftlosen Eltern behandelt haben.
 Es geht auch begreiflich zu. Die Kinder lernen's von den Eltern ; sie sehen und hören die Eltern nicht anders und folgen dem Beispiel.


 

 If a man is careful a little more, he finds very often, that aged people are treated by their children now again just like they had treated their old and feeble parents at the first.
It is also natural. Children learn it from their parents ; they look at and listen to their parents like this and follow this example.

Nr 28

Wenn einer fünfundsiebzig Jahre alt ist, kann es nicht felhlen, dab er mitunter an den Tod denke.
 Mich läßt dieser Gedenke in völliger Ruhe, denn ich habe die feste Überzeugung, daß unser Geist ein Wesen ist ganz unzerstörbarer Natur; es ist der Sonne ähnlich, die bloß unsern irdishen Augen unterzugehen scheint, die aber eigentlich nie untergeht, sondern unaufhölich fortleuchtet.
 




 If you are seventy five year old, you can not help thinking about death from time to time. This thinking make me ease very much. because I have the strong belif and it is that our spirit is unbroken natural being.; It looks like the sun which shines to my eyes on the land only, but  temporally without losing it's actuality, keep shining constantly.

Nr 27

Jedes Jahr hat viel schöne Tage: Ostern, Pfingsten und die Ferien. Aber am schönsten sind doch Weihnachten und der Geburstag. Jürgen meint: "Mein Vater hat heute seinen neunten Geburstag !" Als Jochen das hört, muß er lachen: "Aber Jürgen, das ist nict möglich. Du bist doch auch neun Jahre alt." Jürgen nimmt seinen Kalender und erkärt: "Die meisten Monate haben 30 oder 31 Tage. Im Februar aber sind es nur 28 Tage. Alle vier Jahre wird Februar ein Tag eingeschaltet.
 Das ist der 29. Februar. Dann hat mein Vater richtig Geburstag; denn er ist in einem Schaltjahr am 29. Februar geborn."




 Every year has many attractive days.: Easter, Whitsun and the vocation.But however Christmas and Birthday are nicest. "Today is my father's ninth birthday!"Jochen listened to it and he cannot help laughing: "But Jurgen, it is impossible. You are also nine year old." Jurgen take his calender and  explain. " Most of months have 30 or 31 days. But in February there are only 28 days. Every four years, February is added a day.This is the 29.February. and then  Today is my father's true birthday. Because he was born  29.February in Leap year.


Note; In German , "ist geborn"(was born)used for an alive, is always the present tense.

Nr 26

Otto lief Schlitscuch. Das Flüßchen war aber noch nicht fest zugefroren. Auch ein kleines Mädchen hatte sich schon auf das Eis gewagt. Es brach ein und schrie laut um Hilfe. Otto eilte sofort hinzu. Aber auch er sank ins eiskalte Wasser. Doch er hielt sich oben. Er erfaßte das Mädchen, das schon am Ertrinken war. Mit voller Kraft schob er es auf den Festeren Teil des Eises zurück. Ganz naß waren beide. Otto führte die Kleine aber erst zum Haus ihrer Eltern. Als sie dort glücklich in Obhut war, eilte er davon. Er wollte keinen Dank für seinen Rettungsdienst haben.






Otto went to skate. But the creek was not frozen so strong yet. Also a little girl had tried to go to the ice. She broke the ice,and cried for help. Otto hurried there. But he also sank into the cold ice water. He got himself over the ice. He seized the little girl,who had been already drowned. With his full power, he lifted her back on the hard place of the ice. They were all wet But Otto take her to her parent's house. When She was well taking care of, he left there. He wouldn't get  appreciation for his rescue.
