Wenn meine Mutter einen Roman liest, macht sie das so :  Erst liest sie die ersten zwanzig Seiten, dann den Schluß, dann blätter sie in der Mitte, und nun nimmt sie erst das Buch richtig vor und liest es von Anfang bis Ende durch.  Warum macht sie das?  Sie muß, ehe sie den Roman in Ruhe lessen kann, wissen, wie er endet.  Es läßt ihr sonst keine Ruhe.  Gewhönt euch das nicht an ! Und falls ihr es schon macht, gewöhnt es euch wieder ab, ja ?


 

  When my mother read a novel, she makes this so : First, she read the first twenty pages, and then the end. After that, she browses a mid part of it, and she just begins to read the book exactly at first and reads it through from beginning to end.
  Why does she read like this ? She must needs know how the novel ends before she reads it at ease. Novels make her nothing at ease. 
  Don't accustomed to a novel !And if you are already accustomed to it, give it up again, well.
